Hey, I'm living in one with about a thousand people. Yes, we know everybody, or it feels that way. People here hate and love their neighbors: we fight wars over property borders, but help each other out when needed: when people get ill, children go missing, granny-so-and-so is snowed in.

I did live in larger cities when I was younger: getting a good education and having a bit of a career. If I hadn't I would have turned nuts out here today, but as I know what I'm missing out on, I thrive like a fish in the water. It is very safe here, very silent and pretty and little pollution. But I do have the means to go traveling whenever it feels too cramped. You can say that I live in the resort and vacation in urbanity. Which was what I planned to do when I got sick of the city.

When I get too old to live the good life here: to physically deal with remote country living, I plan to move to a suburb with shops and services within walker assisted walking range.
