It's not about the things I like. It's in general. If you feel the need to tell other people that something they like is stupid...you aren't someone I want to hang around. If you feel that any book or media is worthless then...you aren't someone I want to hang around.

it's not like you can just get up and go away all because they hate your fav book. Lots of teachers in the U.S. think Harry Potter is terrible and worthless fiction

Having to be around someone isn't the same thing as having to pretend you dislike a certain thing.
