I have never had a cat. I did once know a cat who was very doglike though. He was a Maine Coon, and I guess that breed is known for being particularly gregarious. He would come up to greet me anytime I went to his house, including getting in my face and demanding attention. If he was happy (which he always was if he was being petted) he'd not only purr but also drool. He had no fear and loved everyone.

I wonder if he's still around. I miss him, and his brother cat too. (The latter was much more catlike but was also sort of my baby...)

Haha sounds about right. Boy is a maine coon mix, but ... usually breed traits aren't really something one considers with cats.
