I have no idea what any of this means.

Sounds like they'd usually put their backpack beside their desk in the aisle, and would move it when they'd see their classmate walking down said aisle because they didn't want her to trip and fall over it.

But they were afraid that moving it under their chair as soon as that classmate stood up could possibly make them seem racist for, like, looking like they didn't want her touching it or something.

I didn't get it at first either.

That's how I read it.

I've been in similar situations, and have similar feelings about it.

No, person, I'm not quickly changing course and going down another aisle because you have a different skin tone. I do it to EVERYONE! You could be a flying purple people eater for all my wacky brain cares.

Doesn't prevent me from feeling bad about it, though.
