My cat doesn't really like to be pet or held, but loves playing chase - she'll run away from anyone who approaches her, and get very put out and noisy if they don't run after her. If the human doesn't figure out they're supposed to be playing, she'll come back, sit on their feet, yell until they try to pet her, then run off again. Repeat as necessary until she either gets distracted, or the human figures out that this is a game.

She'll colonize you if you fall asleep in an accessible room, though, and is a very determined hat if you're sick.
