SW fandom disappoints me because of the utter lack of creativity. It's the same AUs, the same headcanons, the same Flanderizations of the characters, and there's absolutely nothing fun about any of it. It kills me.

Not wrong there. Up until just recently (after TFA), the fandom overall played it very "safe". I don't even think they were really ever supportive of things like fan art or fan fic, unless it was done by a "professional" or officially licensed artist (though now that Lucasfilm is owned by Disney, that program is probably a thing of the past IIRC). Now the fan fic section on AO3 is just... yeah.

Hell, TheForce.Net, the biggest fansite for SW, had a total ban on slash/femslash fanwork, for the better part of a decade for some inexplicable reason that was never made 100% clear (something something "~*canon*~", I guess). They only reversed their stance I think either in 2014 or 2013, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people still get cranky on the TFN forums because MUH CANON. (Not that it matters anymore, the "canon" they care about is no longer canon at all, lmao)

SW fandom is just a hot dumpster fire at this point, as far as I'm concerned.
