Heck, they had an entirely different actor play Wedge even in A New Hope (the guy to whom Luke compared killing death stars to shooting rats), I don't see why they couldn't again. I love Wedge in the EU/"Legends" books and comics.

No, it's the same guy, they just spelled his name wrong.

Fake Wedge is the uncredited guy during the briefing. Denis Lawson is the guy in the cockpit.

He probably died at the hands of Kylo Ren and his army, prior to the events of TFA. At least in my headcanon at least, in order to explain Wedge's absence in the Resistance.

However, I'm not worried about Wedge, as I am with Lando. We definitely need Lando in the next films, or to become Han Solo-lite in those films.

I wasn't invested in Wedge, so his absence means nothing to me. I'll laugh pretty hard if Denis Lawson changes his mind for one of the next two films (especially after seeing how much bank they made), only for Disney to go '¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lolnope'.

But if he manages to stick to his guns, then I'll have an odd amount of respect for him in completely walking away from the money he'd make just for a simple cameo.

Seems he'd do it more for nostalgia than money. The actor doesn't seem like a money grubber.

Maybe he's just mad his nephew (Ewan McGregor) is more famous than him?

Huh, I never knew they were related. Thanks for that neat little factoid, anon!
