Don't pretend like you have no idea what Castle is.

Castle was on for 5 or 6 seasons before I so much as heard about it. Some people don't watch TV, or don't watch a certain channel, or really hate crime shows. It is possible to know nothing about really popular things.

I only know the name because my mother records it. Standard police procedural?

It had a few big arcs that carried throughout the series, but was probably 80 percent standard procedural with a dash of quirkiness.
