Gimme a new book series

(Anonymous) 2016-05-17 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I just inhaled the Codex Alera in 6 days (ancient Rome, with Pokémon, and everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked!) and now I'm kinda on a roll and want a catchy new series to read. What are some of your favorites?

Obligatory Neuromancer trilogy recommendation. (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, in that order.) Not sure how big you are on sci-fi, especially 80s sci-fi, but Gibson's slangy, casual, noir style is entertaining.

I loved the Dragonback series by Timothy Zahn. They're young adult, there's 6 books in the series, and they're fairly short reads. I loved the worldbuilding and concept. The characters were interesting.

I love those too! I recommended them to someone on here a while back, was that you? If so I'm glad you did like them!

I definitely got the recommendation here. I mentioned I liked Timothy Zahn's Star Wars books and everyone else mentioned his other books. I've read the Dragonback series and then I just finished Angelmass, which was really good.

So yes, they were great, thanks!

Sounds pretty cool...you ever read The Bartimaeus Trilogy?

I like the Chemical Garden trilogy!

Personal opinion: I couldn't stand the Chemical Garden trilogy. I found Rhine to be super whiny.

But I loved the Broken Crowns trilogy by the same author.

Have you read anything by Lauren Oliver? I loved her Delirium trilogy (at least the first two books, the third was so so) and really loved her book "Before I Fall"
