The popularity of reality shows.

I understand why networks make them (cheap and easy tv), just not that people watch it in such large numbers.

I can understand watching competitions even though I'm not interested in watching them myself, but the shows that just follow people through their lives creep me out. It feels too voyeuristic, even though I know the people agreed to it.
