I wouldn't call them "silly" or "dumb," but as a Westerner, they symbolize to me the oppression of women under Islam. They likely symbolize something very different to those who wear them.

I mean fuck even as a Westerner, you really don't know a single Western Muslism who chooses to wear a hijab because she wants to, not because the men in her life force her?

Likewise you also apparently don't realize that in the Middle East and surrounding areas, Christian and Jewish women also wear head scarves for religious purposes?
