As usual, the problem is China.

Hollywood is much more okay with homosexuals than you think, on a PERSONAL level. But it's not personal. It's business.

Even if Hollywood was fine with it on a personal level, which is, your opinion, like you said that doesn't mean these feelings will translate on screen. I doubt the reason is 'China'. China has definitely been more open-minded than a century ago. My friend has spoke about how Chinese talk shows have talked about what's it's like having parents of the same sex in a positive light and one of the popular talk shows' host is trans. So you could say the same thing about China's entertainment industry as you did about Hollywood.

More open-minded than a century ago doesn't actually mean they're open-minded. Granted, there is a segment of Chinese audience that would probably welcome LGBT content in media. A certain web series became really popular recently in the mainland... but then this happened: http://qz.com/600616/this-viral-internet-comedy-about-time-travel-and-bisexuality-has-suddenly-been-banned-in-china/

Watch your facts/ They're a police state based on censorship and oppression. If you compared the whole country to its past, it would put even the most hardcore Republicans to shame. China was a lot more open about sexuality and gender centuries ago.

Yes, China is so tolerant, they regularly arrest people (mainly women) who write slash fic.

You're the second anon to drag China into this. Who are you? Donald Trump?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-18 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
China is a shithole, I can't believe there are people arguing against this.

I think what OP is trying to say is you guys seem to place all the blame on China for why America is against lgbt in popular media when America is part of the problem too tbh.
