Re: Book club - quick announcements!
However, I'd be down for asking what others think about weekends. If there is a lot of positive feedback about doing a discussion on weekends, I could try to do one on a Sunday.
If there's a split of people who prefer weekdays/weekends, maybe I could try to do two?
But I hesitate to commit to doing something on the weekend without at least looking ahead. Weekends are when I spent a lot of time with friends and family and that's a really high priority for me.
Re: Book club - quick announcements!
(Anonymous) 2016-05-18 10:47 am (UTC)(link)I have the same problem as the anon above. When the secret post goes up I'm usually either out for the night or asleep. I know you don't have any influence over when the secrets are posted, and I have the same doubts about weekends being more suitable than weekdays that you do, meaning I have the impression that weekends are more quiet around here.
I've got one suggestion though. If the current discussion thread (Maurice throughout June or til mid-June or something like that, Dragon Thief throughout July or til mid-July etc.) could be linked in the subsequent Book Club threads, people might be tempted to look back in on the discussion to see, if there are new comments and such, so that we might be able to keep the discussion alive for a little longer than one single night.
And because finding specific things again on here is rather a nightmare. Maybe someone who's on the right (timewise) side on the globe would volunteer as the keeper of the links?
I probably won't read Dragon Thief (not my cup of tea), but I'm done with Maurice and looking forward to that. :)
Re: Book club - quick announcements!
I wish more people would participate overall tbh, we have more than 40 vote in the poll but then it's 2-3 people talking about the book. :/ I'd be willing to hold the discussion on, say, a Sunday if it meant more people would participate, I just assumed there'd be even less traffic. I'll have to ask and see what people think.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-18 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)At least Maurice is public domain, so I'm hoping there'll be a few more participants than last month. I also think that if the book club keeps happening regularly more people will join in along the way.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-18 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)It's really not that unpredictable. I just checked the archives, and the vast majority of Sunday posts since January have been between 3:30 (my time) and 3:45, with only a couple outliers at 3 and 4.
