I can relate to some of the functional problems with kitchen and bathroom standard heights.

Taking things off the stove is dangerous because I can't see if they're tilting and about to pour all over me. I can't wash my hands in the sink without all the water running back down my arms and soaking me.
Not being at bathroom mirror height is surprisingly annoying. I got a smaller one that tilts down but not before I left the house with toothpaste on my shirt or my hair doing crazy things multiple times.

The counter at the bank with the stupid talking window and little slot for sliding things through that I can't even see. The counters everywhere really.

I imagine driving would have some obstacles too. Cars are not really designed to be driven by people of small stature. Adaptive technology does exist but it's all pretty pricey.

Knowing a few people who exist outside the standard clothing size range, I think that would also be pretty difficult if you can't afford Peter Dinklage's tailor.

...how tall ARE you? Based on your descriptions, it sounds like you are, in fact, a little person.

I'm fairly certain bd's actually in a wheelchair at least part of the time (sorry if I overstepped, belladonna!)

... a totally average height that is only really considered short because I have lots of tall people in my life? I will admit that I have never been able to reach the top cupboards in the kitchen without climbing on the bench, nor have I ever been able to get clothes out of a top-loading washing machine without diving headfirst into it with my feet off the ground, but I am definitely over 5'.

I use a wheelchair most of the time though, which makes me sitting height (or staring at butts and crotches height). This is the source of my extreme shortness.

Oh, right! Sorry, totally failed to consider that possibility. No offense intended.

Oh god, the water running down your arms is SO ANNOYING! I remember that when I was a kid.

And I imagine that dealing with stupid inaccessible stairs or sidewalks is the WORST.

Yes! Wet sleeves in winter is the worst feeling.

It's pretty annoying. Especially older buildings and curbs that aren't properly graded so I can roll up and down. Some of the medical appointments I've had aren't even in accessible buildings! So silly.

Yeah, we live in a city that's GODAWFUL for wheelchair accessibility; I have NEVER lived in an apartment accessible by wheelchair here, it's always at least the second floor, stairs only. Thank god that isn't among our accessibility needs, that would suck so hard.
