So many Dickens books (the BBC have already done a great job with Bleak House and Little Dorrit, don't know if they've done any more.)

POSSIBLY The Silmarillion, but it depends on how they approach it. Definitely needs a very non-Peter Jackson style or the budget will never be able to hold up.

The Brits have been making Dickens tv series since the 1950s. Search titles and you'll find multiples of almost everything.

Soooooo much yes to the Silmarillion! It's just begging for an adaptation (especially because the way the Silmarillion is written makes book vs movie comparisons of most "scenes" impossible, and leaves so much of the immediate, small-picture stuff - the characters' movements, back-and-forth dialogue, facial expressions and reactions, etc, up to the imagination.)

But yes I agree that it could not be Peter Jackson-y. There's just too much ~epic~ there to be depicted with that many close-up action scenes. It would need a good amount of sweeping, impressionistic imagery.
