I got that too, tbh. I never got that rape-vibe from it, until the internet felt the need to educate me. I always thought it was suposed to encourage me to be less of a "good girl" and loosen up a little, in a playful way.

People who don't understand why people find the song rapey are frightening.

Or, you know, they don't actually have rape on their mind 24/7.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
More likely they're sociopaths who get off on raoe 24/7 and don't see anything wrong with it.

Yeah, that's your interpretation. Honestly I don't really have a bone in this fight as I'm sort of meh about the song, but I heard it a few times on the radio, and didn't notice anything weird about the lyrics until the internet started screaming about it.

Or they're not twelve-year-old radfems?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
No, they're twelve-year-old rapists.

It's completely unfair to label people. You have no idea whether someone is feminist or not, 'radical' or not, simply based on whether or not they find a song 'rapey'. That is utterly close-minded of you.

If you really want to know about 'radical feminism' then actually find a radical feminist and ask them about it. You may not agree (I certainly don't agree with a lot of my friend's views) but at least you'd have more of an understanding of how they came to that position.
