Getting someone high for the express purpose of making them lower their inhibitions enough to have sex with you is assault.

You do know that people often get high together? And sometimes they have sex. I have done so many times. Pot is fantastic. And if you are going to be using a drug to incapacitate someone, pot is not the drug to use.

Getting high together when it's made clear that all parties are open to the idea of having sex from the get-go is a thing that happens, yes. Getting someone high in order for them to be more easily convinced to have sex when they are not open to the idea otherwise is assault. I'm not talking about incapacitation, I'm talking about using drugs in order to mess with a victim's judgement and make them more suggestible. If they would never have had sex with you while sober, but they do so while stoned, that's assault.

What the hell in those lyrics suggests that the girl isn't willingly getting high?

Baby can you breathe.

I believe I've made you look enough like an ass tonight, but if you want the last word so badly, here.

DA, still don't see it,
(Also, getting high together would imply the guy is just as high,so nice try, but reach some more, you're already touching the sky.)

DA, my arse. Stop replying to me. Go away.

Getting high with someone and having sex isn't, though. People are able to consent to that, and do so frequently.

If the context of the rest of the song makes them skeevy, fine, but it's a poor example of things only a rapist would ever say, because it doesn't hold up when removed from that context.

So you're admitting you don't even know the song's lyrics, but you're telling other people they're reading too much into them? Fabulous.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
...That would be why, in my initial comment to you, I said "I'm admittedly not incredibly familiar with the surrounding lyrics", yes. It doesn't work as a gotcha when it's been stated up front.

And I haven't said anyone is reading too much into anything. I've said that the particular set of three lines you've quoted do not, in fact, sound like something only a rapist would say, even if they could quite conceivably be rapey in the context of the song.

[personal profile] lady_dragoon 2016-05-21 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Pardon me for assuming that somebody jumping into an argument about the song would at least bother to look up the lyrics for context. Perhaps I'm expecting too much out of idiots on the internet?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
If it's something no one but a rapist would say, it would stand up as implying rape without the lyrics as context. It doesn't.

Now you're just being willfully obtuse, and if you're not going to bother arguing with anything but circular logic, I'm done. Get bent.

You clearly have no idea what circular logic means.

Here's a hint: pointing out that rape is not a transitive property does not meet the definition.

But hey, have fun with your poor reading comprehension and weirdly rigid world view.
