Harry Potter is rich?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Harry Potter's crazy rich, his parents left him a fortune

[personal profile] lady_dragoon 2016-05-21 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. In the books, his parents left him a very sizeable fortune.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah I see, I was thinking of the adopted parents.

Harry is a weird case since he was brought up by an aunt and uncle who were firmly middle-class and not extremely rich (the books never define their financial state other than their claims that Harry is a drain on them). The side effect is though inherited money from his parents, he was not raised "rich", and I don't what that says about him or the whole set-up in HP, since it could be reinforcing the image of the rich brat that Malfoy is by comparing him against someone with money but not raised "privileged".

Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince. You go call him a white sissy.

I had to go look it up and holy shit that show ended 20 years ago? I feel so old.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-21 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You want to feel really old? Will Smith is older now than Avery Brooks was when he took on the role.

On the other hand, go into any mall, stand on one of the benches, throw you hands in the air and start chanting "This is the story all about how/My life got turned flipped..." and mall security will arrest you. Also people will start singing, but mainly the little mall jail.

James Avery

Avery Brooks is Captain Sisko

Both large scary bald men with beards. Also, now imagining Uncle Phil in charge of Deep Space Nine. Wow, I did not think Weyoun or Dukat could be anymore screwed than they were, but I was wrong. They'd be given the Jazz exit through the airlock.

Can I add the entire Leverage team? The very first episode set each of them up for life, but they spend the series doing what they do. Eliot still wears just jeans and t-shirts. They could do anything but choose to still run cons to help people who will never have as much as they do.

What does nancing mean? Looked this up but got nothing (though after some modifications to the word, a play called "The Nance" came up). Was it a typo or do you mean nancy like how it's used in the play about campy guys?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-23 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
wasn't the OP talking about wanting more morally ambiguous characters/villains? i know they mentioned batman and iron man too, though.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-23 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, if Xanatos isn't morally ambiguous, I dunno who is.
