Seems to me that the underlying idea with this somewhat leading question is that everyone has some kind of moral responsibility to go out of their way to choose reading material based solely on the demographics to which their authors belong, or on whether the themes in the story fall under what the current "progressive" crowd deems sufficiently important, rather than on whether they enjoy the story or not. Which is a principle that I also reject.
