Speaking as someone in Los Angeles, there are plenty of food experiences that you can have without a "date". Places like Phillipe's (http://www.philippes.com/) or Pink's (http://www.pinkshollywood.com/), or there are plenty of food trucks that you can track down. We've got some good museums, and while traffic sucks and parking is expensive, a lot of the more touristy places downtown are accessible by one of the Metro lines.

I've been thinking of taking a solo trip for my own birthday this August. Maybe not a particularly long one, but a couple of days just getting away from my family.

I love traveling solo.

I'm planning on a big birthday trip solo for my birthday the following August. I can't recommend traveling alone enough, it's great! I love traveling with people too, but I've done Europe and the US solo.
