That... reminds me of a post about the pattern of queercoding and femininity in male Disney villains. Most of it wasn't bad, but when it started going into examples by movie, it was so determined not to leave a single popular one out that it accused Beauty and the Beast of doing it with Gaston. Fucking Gaston, whose villain motive comes from a girl rejecting him and gets an image song all about how manly he is, is queercoded and feminine. The justification was something nebulous about being a "dandy," which still doesn't sound accurate. Is it the ponytail ribbon? I just don't even know.

Gaston is probably the straightest villain in Disney, though you could make a case for Clayton.

I don't know, his over the top claims of masculinity coupled with his single-minded pursuit of the one woman who will be forever out of his grasp could be classified as overcompensating, but even that is reaching and a far cry from "queer-coded"

Queercoding is definitely a Thing that a lot of movies do to villains. (Scar from TLK comes to mind). But... Gaston is really a reach. I really hate when someone is talking about legit tropes like that but has to force a bunch of non-examples in. It just weakens the point.

I don't know, Dandies were considered "manly" back in the day, so that argument is pretty silly if you're trying to argue whether or not someone is queer.

Anyway, yeah, Gaston is the LAST person I'd use if I was trying to convince people that all Disney villains were gay. He's pretty much the straightest character I can think of.
