I'm a woman who plays the Star Wars MMO. All my toons are female, because for once I don't have to play Generic Stubbly White Dude in a video game.

People tend to assume I'm also female, based on the occasional "wanna ERP?" whispers I get, but in my experience, men are just as likely to roll female characters. My standing raid group is 2 women, 6 men, and we have a grand total of 2 male characters (both played by men). A couple of the guys have no male toons at all, because they'd rather "look at a hot chick" while playing (and they're not all dressed like space strippers, either).

So it's probably safe to assume people think you're a straight guy as often as they think you're a woman. Either way, if you don't want to out yourself as anything, you're not obligated to. There are some very toxic people out there :(
