I'm tired of not even being able to question anything or have a slight opposing view without getting jumped on anymore. Mostly on facebook.

How do these people handle RL conversations? Because most people don't even bother being careful or sensitive. Which is another problem, I'll grant you, but if I bit the head off of everyone who ever said something I disagree with or vaguely problematic in a certain context or whatever else, if I only associated with people who share my exact views, I would basically have no one left to talk to.

Facebook =/= real life

Fortunately.

I think maybe part of the reason people can seem so frustrated online is precisely because they bite their tongue IRL so as not to get into explosive arguments.

I think that's a huge part of it. Unfortunately that also means they tend to unload all at once.

People are nicer in real life conversations than they are online, usually. Arguing in writing is easier than arguing in person, so I think people are less likely to get aggressive when talking to someone face to face.

Some people are so sheltered in their interactions that they only have to deal with people who are like minded. My sister is an example. She works in a research position and has a friend circle who share most of her views.
