Only when used in its proper context. Cunt is my favorite word for female sex organs. But when used as a swear, it is a slur.

Yeah, my mom calls people cunts all the time. Especially in traffic. I don't use it quite as often at people, but I've called people cunts before.

Are you European? I'm British and I don't see what the big deal about cunt is either, but I gather it has much weightier connotations in the US and Canada.

Nah, I am from the US. I've never really gotten why cunt is a no-no word. And seeing someone call it the "c-word" just seems silly.

Cunt is fantastic both as a term for genitals (I prefer it to pussy) and as something to call someone you hate or like.

SA The word "pussy" for female genitalia makes my skin crawl. I've encountered way too many creepy weirdos who used it.

Cunt is a strong, less silly sounding word.

You have to admit it's ironic that he used it right before and after calling "mansplaining" a derogatory term based on gender, though.

And while I like the word "cunt" for several uses including as a general curse, it is definitely sometimes used as a slur.

It's nice for you that you have thick skin, but I don't like being called slurs. I hope people don't rank your voice higher than mine or any of the other women who don't like it, either.

I hope you don't use any slurs against people. Dick, asshole, fuckface, etc.

And no one likes being called something bad (well, some people like it as a kink). I would not like someone to call me a cunt angrily. But I also wouldn't like it if someone called me an asshole or shithead.

ETA: Thinking about it, I'd be more upset if someone called me stupid than if someone called me a cunt. Stupid feels more personal to me and less of a "I am angry and am just saying cursewords."
