Re: Venting Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-23 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)also I'm trying the diva cup for the first time and having a hard time getting used to it? I know some people like different brands of menstrual cups, but how are you supposed to know which are best for you and your body without spending a fuck ton buying them? it sucks man

Re: Venting Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 01:08 am (UTC)(link)and I've looked at some comparisons but everything pretty much is like "use whatever works for you everyone's body/cervix is different" and its like :/ I have never once in my life been aware of my cervix so how am I supposed to know which one of these is the right length or stiffness or whatever for me without dropping 30 dollars. (not to mention a lot of the reviews can't agree on which ones are softer...)

(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 01:03 am (UTC)(link)Re: Venting Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 01:25 am (UTC)(link)Some reviews are saying its one of the softer cups on the market and others are saying it isn't, so idk what to believe? Maybe I will get used to how stiff it feels, but right now its pretty annoying
I know it will be more cost effective than pads and tampons in the long run but its still a lot of money for me to drop shopping around, so idk :/ I might just deal with it
Re: Venting Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 01:37 am (UTC)(link)maybe try pushing it up further or at a slightly different angle? sometimes i can feel mine poking if it's inserted a little differently, and shifting/rotating it will help. and did you cut the stem off? initially i was worried that it'd be harder to remove if i cut off the entire stem, but it turned out to be a lot more comfortable once i did (after i was used to removing it).
good luck, anon!!
Re: Venting Thread
(Anonymous) 2016-05-24 01:41 am (UTC)(link)oh yeah removing mine will sometimes hurt a little if i've been emptying it frequently that day. not sure how you're removing it, but i do the toilet straddle (pants off) so that i can fold it up a bit to pull it out. it's not the most dignified position, but i don't have to worry about spilling. (orgasms do help too)
Re: Venting Thread
As far as trying different brands... I do know there are disposable cups on the market, though sadly I don't know the names of the brands off hand. If you have access to a crunchy granola shop, you can probably find some, and experiment at least with less expensive ones.
I recall these old posts having useful stuff. I recall it took a good few months before I was able to manage mine without it looking like a slasher film, but now, at least, I can handle it no problem. It does take a lot of practice, sadly. :(
