If you're looking for more reading material on the same subject, I recommend Evil Men by James Dawes. It looks into the war crimes committed during the second Sino-Japanese war, and how perfectly ordinary people became capable of such horrific acts. It can be gruelling at times but it's a very good read that makes an effort not to make the war crimes seem like something titillating.
