I'd provide links, but all three stories are in the planning stages.

Here are some of the general goals of the rewrites for further details on the idea:

1) Stronger focus on the Legendary Pokemon characters and worldbuilding around them, Legendaries feel more powerful and unique

2) Continuity with the other movies - movie-only characters reappear and events carry over between stories with consequences

3) More complex human characters - the villains have motivations, character arcs, and goals beyond just power/wanting to rule the world and the other humans have more active roles and development

4) Different plotlines that actively subvert elements of the original films and general Pokemon anime cliches

5) General fixes - Shaymin is made much less of a jerk, Regigigas and the Swords of Justice get more to do, Kyurem can't simply change between White and Black forms at will

Ahhh, I'm really torn between "I want to see what you did with the Giratina movie!" and "bugger you, that movie is terrible and amazing and I love it and you leave it alone."

Good for you, though, OP. I'm with you on the 'wasted potential'. They have some neat ideas that tend to dissolve into another round of 'Ash befriends legendary again."

Yeah. It's sad they flat-out admitted that after the first three movies they started churning them out to get funding for their other projects.

The first three were written by Takeshi Shudo, who took a more philosophical approach to the franchise. However, he also had some ideas that were flat out batshit insane (age of legal adulthood is ten, pokemon popped into existence in recent memory, etc).

this is, to an extent, how I feel about YGO. Like I love it, don't get me wrong, and I don't much care if people say it's objectively bad (I know there are people who do), but there is a lot it could have done better. For a while I wanted to write a giant fix-it fic about the whole thing. lol

I only really like...2, 5, sorta 6, 8, 10, and 13. If a rewrite of the Giratina movie would make it better, I'd LOVE to read it. Giratina is my favorite Legendary, but I HATED Shaymin.
