I feel like that's probably simplifying things a bit. The impression I'm getting is that she posted the cover and someone filtered it until you could see through the cover to the next page?

It was very dumb and naive of her to do that.

Look, if you don't want someone to see something, don't give them a picture of it. Period.

If the image was of the cover of the script, I don't see why she would have any reason to suspect people could manipulate that image until they could see through it (which is why I really wish I had more details because I have no idea how that would happen).

Besides, apparently she's apologized for flipping out.

She posted a picture of a section of the first page, not just the cover.

...Wouldn't that be easily read without a filter? If she just posted a picture, then yeah, I'm not surprised people read it. Did she purposefully obscure it or blur it? Or was it literally just the picture?

(Anonymous) 2016-05-25 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously? These are Sherlock fans. They fancy themselves smart. She's an idiot for thinking a little blurring would obscure anything.

And she showed her ass with those tweets, sorry.

I maintain that thinking people would respect you enough not to manipulate your photos to see things you clearly want concealed isn't idiocy. A bit naive perhaps, given the state of the fandom, but not idiocy. And the people who did it were still not in the right if it was clear they weren't meant to see the script. Not quite deserving of a massive flip out, but not in the right.

I'm not in the habit of holding things against people after they've apologized.

If you want something concealed you don't post a picture of it. That's just common sense. That's like holding up a picture for someone to look at and then getting mad because they leaned in closer or turned on a light and spotted something in the background you didn't want them to see.

This isn't 'leaned in closer' this is 'purposefully manipulated image to see a thing they knew damn well they weren't meant to see because it was previously concealed by the person who made the picture'. It's rude. It's not the be all end all to evil, but it's definitely rude.

Yeah, if that's the case, she definitely had no reason to expect anything bad, and it was really rude and creepy of the fans to purposefully manipulate her picture until they could see things she didn't want them to see. Not necessarily rude to the point that it deserved a freakout, but still pretty out there.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-25 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Her tweets were hardly a freakout anyway. Or maybe I have higher standards for freakouts than most people.

I feel like it was a mildly excessive but ultimately understandable reaction to someone taking your photos and editing them against your wishes. But I'm also willing to forgive her a lot since the fandom hates her for pretty much no reason.

Yeah, that's exactly it.
