I think I might be able to explain the Gibbs/DiNozzo thing. It depends on when you started watching though. But McGee didn't join the team until the second season, he was around for several eps in the first, but his dynamic with the team was very different. When he was introduced it was also partly as a love interest for Abby, they did date for quite a while, so that would make slashing him with Tony tricky. Gibbs also didn't immediately start out as Team Dad either, except maybe for Abby. With him and Tony in the first few seasons, their interactions were pretty ambiguous, which is something slash fans love. Later on, their dynamic definitely changed and in most recent seasons they didn't really have significant storylines together (that I can remember).

Basically, it comes down to when you started watching. If you really started with ep 1, it's fairly easy to see G/D. If you've seen later seasons, it's probably hard to see Gibbs as anything but a father figure, even if you go back to those early days.
