Re: What's the last thing that made you feel old?

Everyone assumes I'm almost a decade younger than I actually am and I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't just lie about it. They're not wrong; comparing pictures, I still look virtually identical to how I looked back then. I'm fairly accomplished for someone my age... ...but I'd be stupendously accomplished for someone seven or eight years my junior.

...Hm. The ethics of it, though.

I'm starting to lie about it. Not by a decade, but some (I'm not accomplished at all, and it's also useful from that perspective). Though it can be weird. At one job I had a woman who was 8 years older mothering me.

That's annoying. I have friends who are 8+ years older than me. My parents are 26+ years older than me. there is such a big difference

I don't lie... but these days I don't bother giving my age out unless asked directly. I let people assume what they want.

Don't lie, just don't bother to tell anyone your age. My dad used to refuse to tell his age, to the point that he wouldn't let me look at his driver's license as a kid.

Now people sometimes ask me if he retired early, because he looks young to be retired. He's in his late 70s, and the usual retirement age is 65.

I get similar on occasion, I mostly laugh about it.
