I guess in the show, her feelings could be taken either way. But then, Cersei did accuse Brienne of being in love with Jaime... and Brienne didn't really have anything to counter that.

In Feast For Crows, it's painfully obvious during her chapters.

It's kind of the same for Jaime. We don't really get inside his head like we do in the books.

"But then, Cersei did accuse Brienne of being in love with Jaime... and Brienne didn't really have anything to counter that."

I interpreted that a few ways. One, Cersei's not a great judge of people, nor is she particularly good at recognizing the nuances of relationships between men and women specifically. She can conceive of lust, and she can conceive of love but even that's mostly lust/obsession, to be honest. She cannot conceive of friendship, especially not between a man and a woman.

Brienne has no way of countering that because firstly, it's an uncomfortable accusation. What's she supposed to say? She knows she's regarded as a freakish she-male by most people, and she's being questioned by one of the most beautiful women in the kingdom. Answering yes would be awkward because she'd be in the same position that people have been mocking her for all along: an ugly woman absurdly in love with a beautiful man, only the beautiful man was Renly.

Secondly, she's not known to be a person who is quick with off the cuff responses. She's honest, but awkward. But even though she lacks a silver tongue, she knows that answering no would probably open her up to just as much mockery. What, a woman as ugly as her not admiring one of the most handsome men in the kingdom? It'd ring as false in most peoples' ears as her denials of Renly. Not to mention she's talking to the man's sister, and a Lannister to boot.

Brienne is basically trapped in a lose-lose situation. The best thing to do is to say nothing.

And that's fine. Like I said, Brienne's feelings can be interpreted either way, with the way the show has gone.
