that was one of the stations I grew up listening to - I like the old DJs better than the current ones. I miss Cousin Brucie [don't have Sirius so I can't listen to his broadcasts], I miss Harry Harrison the morning mayor, I miss Bob Shannon, I miss Norm N. Nite, I miss Bill Brown and his lunch bag [granted, I know Bill Brown has passed away but still]... /has totally dated myself

it feels like we're heading back in the direction of that New Jack crap experiment they tried and failed

I loved Bob Shannon as a kid. I guess he was always on whenever we were in the car.

Ugh the Jack experiment was terrible. My mom hated it and remembered that it didn't last long at all.

NYC radio stations are very hit or miss. It's such a big market and it's hard to keep up. I still miss 92.3 KRock (I used to listen to Howard Stern in the morning before school) and I loved 101.9 when it was the alternative nation. But noooooooo nothing lasts.

yeah, when they went to Jack, we went back to WMTR-AM [that still plays 50s music, thank goodness].

I think my brother listened to KRock, can't remember. I know one of the stations my father listens to is Q104.3 - classic rock [that's a hit or miss for me] and holidays usually gets 106.7 Lite FM [of course, the instant a certain Christmas song comes on, off goes the radio or a quick change of the channel because one hearing of "Christmas Shoes" ::shudder:: that song is a thing of Satan]

Yeah Q1043 is good. If you're on the Jersey side of NYC, the best station for rock is really 105.5 WDHA. They play just a mix of classic rock and new rock.

I listen to 94.7 NashFM, which is the country station, but I know that's not everyone's thing they've only been here 3 years.

Lately, I stick to the ipod or satellite radio.
