Bullshit. A lot of fandoms are very het-heavy. Look at all those TV shows with a male and female lead (Castle, Bones etc.), the big ship is always the het ship. Or if you want a book fandom, the ASOIAF fandom is waaaay more into het than slash, and I'm sure there are other examples as well, but that's the first one that comes to mind.

Sure, many fandoms are slash-heavy, but there are also lots of fandoms that are really into the main het romance. Especially if a canon focuses on the het romance, people will often enjoy it. What many people don't enjoy is the tacked on kind of het romance where the story is about something else, but the main character gets a random love interest because main characters need love interests, apparently.

tv fandoms in general seem to be pretty het dominant to me and if they aren't it's usually because the show is about dudes and there are little to no female characters, so unless the fans create ofc's the dominant ships in those will be slash.
