tb!3: I love you, too. I also completely agree. I hate it when somebody I admire turns out to be a douchebag (Why, Kramer, why?).

09. I've read 1984 three times. I also loved V for Vendetta. In point of fact, the two works, though both distopian in nature, are vastly different. The distopian totalitarianism is merely a vehicle for social commentary, and both clearly set out to comment on different social ills. The fact that you don't recognize that makes me think that YOU are an idiot. Or, at the very least, weren't paying a lot of attention. Furthermore, V fo Vendetta was considerably more hopeful for the future than 1984, and I find it to be exactly what I need when I'm feeling particularly cynical and depressed.

tl;dr You're wrong.

12. What is with all the elitist assholes today?

14. So? They make their money, the fans get their fodder. Everybody's happy.

20. Gotta say, Matt/Mohinder totally eclipsed Mylar for me. Especially since the events of season 2.

22. Ahahaha...win.

35. Absolutely, 100% with you on this one.

40. I would totally read that.

42. Maybe they just don't like the idea of him getting lung cancer, heart disease, or emphysema. I know he's just a fictional character, but for a lot of people he's sort of like a loved one. You want your loved ones to live as long as possible. (Both my sister and my brother are smokers, and I get on their case about it all the time.)

45. At least you realize that it's irrational. God knows how many time I've fantasized about having a time machine so I could stop things from happening to family members and friends.

Can you elaborate? Which events, and how did they change your views on which of the pairings?

Mostly the changes I saw in Sylar's character. Or, to be more accurate, the fleshing out of Sylar's character. Before season 2, I kept hoping for there to be some glimmer of hope that he was capable of genuine human attachments, but his treatment of Maya made me question that.

As for Matt/Mohinder: The interaction between the two had the delicious undertones of manipulation and distrust that I love so much, but they also genuinely cared about one another (and Molly). It's not quite a 'healthy' relationship, which tickles my angst fix, but it's not quite destructive either, which is something I find incredibly squicky.

Don't get me wrong, I still like Mylar. I just prefer Matt/Mohinder.

Ahh, interesting. I don't think I ever thought Sylar had such a glimmer of goodness.
And if he had, I did not think that it would be Mohinder to be understanding enough. All things considered, Sylar gave Mohinder more reason to hate him than anybody else, in season 1 alone.

Though it's true, Maya was probably as nice and understanding as Sylar is going to get (from a sane, non-evil person, that is) and he really ruined that out of his own sadism and greed.
Normal, relaxed friendship is certainly not going to happen to Sylar anytime soon. And Mohinder deserves better than their stressful and dangerous relationship. =)

Really? That's a relief.
