That kind of tragedy is why anyone wishes that magic was real, or justice could be served; it's why vigilantism is glorified in comic books. No one would blame you for wishing the ideal.
Wishing the world that Light created isn't the same thing, though. If, to get rid of the murderers, you have to become a murderer yourself, the good you're doing is instantly invalidated by the evil you do in the hopes of achieving it. : / so. I hope you mean the ideal that he immediately gave up when he started killing indiscriminately, and showed that he was willing to kill his family if they discovered his secret (despite their innocence).
