People don't like him bc he gets in the way of Stucky. Just like people don't like Bucky bc he gets in the way of Stony. No matter what reason they come up with, it comes down to pairings.

I'm not saying it comes down to ship wars hating characters. But I do know the vast majority of Tony hate is from Cap/Bucky/Stucky crowd. Always has been.

Really? The majority of the Tony hate I see stems from Tony acting like an asshole in canon.

I've seen Sam and T'Challa fans voice their dislike of Tony because apparently his stans have a habit of throwing them under the bus to make Tony look better or something. People seem fed up with how victimized Tony fans act when, at the end of the day, he still has a huge following, far more than any of the non-white or female characters.

I, for one, don't ship anything and I can assure you, I dislike Tony purely because he's damn grating and over saturated.

i kind of agree. a lot of character hate from any fandom seems to boil down to ships (from what i've seen.) if the character doesn't 'come in between' the pairing, people seem to be more sympathetic. i say this because people would provide a reason (for example, character cries too much) for not liking one character, but in another fandom, they would be do a 360 and be fine with it or have a positive reaction.

ayrt yeah that's why i said i kind of agree. like from other social media like tumblr, twitter, etc that's what it seems to boil down to. sorry if i wasn't clear, i'm a bit sleepy. but this is just my perspective and i'm not really involved in the marvel fandom, so your experience might be different from mine. but in general, i see it happen across a lot of fandoms.

Nope. I'm no fan of Tony's and have zero interest in Steve and Bucky as a couple. I had a hard time getting through the Iron Man films precisely because of how obnoxious I find him. Part of that could be RDJ, though, because he really knows how to work the smug in his performances, but something about playing Tony seems to send that smugness into overdrive.
