(Anonymous) 2016-05-28 02:30 am (UTC)(link)Stupid ass things can trigger you in really fucked up ways and you have zero control over them. In no way, shape or form do I think that it means everything has to be warned far, but to dismiss someone who might be triggered by reading about a certain thing is ignorance at best, and sheer assholery at worst.
I mean, I know someone who has PTSD and a boatload of psychological issues due to some very fucked up things that happened in their childhood - and who can be triggered into full blown panic attacks/fugue episodes by certain scents and sounds. Even someone else talking about these particular triggers can mess with my friend... because it starts them thinking. Sometimes they can derail their own thought processes and keep control, sometimes they can't. Believe me, this person is not an idiot or a weakling and has overcome more shit than you could possibly fathom.
So yeah, you're ignorant or an asshole... maybe both.
