I guess I see a difference between "correct pronunciation" and "accent". You can be completely phonetically correct without having the same accent as a native speaker (especially since many, many languages have individual dialects and regional variations in accent; I would sound like an idiot trying to imitate a Brit, unless I spend a ton of time practicing how to speak like one)
