I'm watching this shit on youtube and I can't see why anyone would want to play this shit. It's got to be the fanservice stuff, right?

The only thing I know about Overwatch is that people are complaining about the girls in it.

If aesthetics are the biggest problem with the game, it sounds like it might be a decent game? I've heard no complaints about gameplay or mechanics.

Do you find the gameplay boring and awful? What about it is bad?

Well, the objectification thing is pretty gross, but yes, the gameplay is just stupid meathead FPS bullshit.

Could you explain to me how it's better or worse than other FPSes? Or what about FPSes that you consider bad? "Stupid meathead" doesn't tell me much, as a non-FPS player.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell the game play is.

Same, people are up in arms about the characters saying it's a horrible game then you ask them what the game actually is or what you do in it and they don't have any idea either. It's pretty weird

It's a first person shooter with which Blizzard is trying to emulate the success of TF2 for a broader audience (including consoles) by giving each character a distinct set of abilities to accommodate a variety of skills and playstyles and a personality/background in order to cultivate a fandom (both tactics not only successful in TF2 but in the increasingly dominant MOBAs as well).

This is in contrast to a conventional FPS, like CoD or BF or CS, where there may be a class system (or not), but within that class everyone picks from a list of weapons, perks, and streaks in order to customize their character (which does not have a backstory or personality, usually) to preference. People are "playing themselves" as they fight as opposed to "playing a character" (or enforced role) as they do in Overwatch and TF2.

I don't play it myself because I'm not much of a fps person, but I enjoy watching others play it, it looks like fun.

Overwatch seriously intimidates me. Looking at the character powers, almost everyone seems like they require a lot of strategy and thinking on your feet to use to their fullest potential. I can see why Soldier 76 gets so much play, but even he's got his share of tricks.

Well, I'd better tell my two gay guy friends that they're in obvious denial.

It's fun as hell. I don't really know what more you want?? The designs are cute but more than anything it's just fun as hell.

As much as I would like to try Overwatch, team-based shooters just aren't my thing. I tried TF2 and hated it, so I can't imagine I would like this one either.
