Really? I haven't seen fans of a sitcom more thin skinned than Community fans and I've seen more BBT haters whine about the show co-opting ~nerd culture~ to last a lifetime.

Watching it doesn't make you seem intelligent.

People watch most shows the internet derides as horrible to relax and enjoy themselves. See an average AV Club comment section about something like, say, Community if you want to see viewers of a show jerk themselves off over being intelligent.
