Man I have heard so many awful stories about collection agencies. It makes me wonder if some people actually do try to evade them by having someone else pick up their phone all the time because otherwise what could they hope to gain by harassing a complete stranger?

(Do you think it might be worth it to take legal action anyway? Like do you know what the company is?)

Oh people pull all kinds of shit to avoid them. The guy who used to own my house still hasn't had his mail forwarded to his new address in the hopes that they won't find out what it is.

I've also heard of people telling their family members - because they will legit start calling and harassing your family - to say they'd died.

(I know exactly who it is and where they are, but an occasional "you received a call from a blocked number" icon on my phone hasn't made me too pressed. Now if they were actually able to get through to me in any meaningful way, shit yeah. They're legally obligated to take me off their list when I proved I wasn't said dude and asked them to, but they haven't... in case I'm said dude's girlfriend or sister or something and this will eventually cause him to crack.)

I'm glad you're able to take legal action if it gets worse. People need to learn it is not okay to be invasively pushy. Sorry you're dealing with them :/
