I think what really gets me is...my Dad's family all lived in Massachusetts, so we only saw them once a year for a couple of weeks. But we wrote and talked and they visited and stuff. But their kids were all mostly grown, and they were all older, so by the time my daughter was born, there were only a few left, and she only ever got to know my Dad, none of his family.

And none of that connection or history or anything really means anything to my daughter, and that just breaks my heart, because she would have loved my Aunts and Uncles. It just sucks.

Sharing stories is the best way to keep someone alive, so to speak. I may not have known my grandfather much at all, but I know who he was because of what my mom has told me about him.

It's never too late to start doing that.

Yeah, I've told Monstrous stories about the family and the get togethers. I just wish she could feel that same connection. She's not close to any of her cousins or anything really.

Eh.
