CM anon from above replying here-I share in your annoyance at the imagine/reader insert stories. Especially given your point about the multitude of pairings (and I like that the show's kept the team ones non-canon. Cuts down a bit on some of the potential ship wars that way :p).

On that note, as a Reid fan, the prevalence of Reid/OC stories tends to grate a bit, too. Not the fact that it's an OC romance in and of itself, 'cause in a talented writer's hands that sort of story can work just fine. But I swear there's a template for how so many of those Reid/OC stories go-I could read the first chapter and pretty much predict with near certainty how the rest of the story will play out.

But then again, I'm sure people can point to canon character/OC stories in their fandoms and make similar complaints, so that's likely more an across the board problem with some of those kinds of stories. Still, though...

(about the other CM post: I haven't been in the CM fandom very long and tend to stay away from general discussion to lurk in my shippy corner, but yeah, that's a crappy attitude)

First off, welcome to the fandom :)!

Second, I usually try and stay out of it as well, but there's a couple sites I go to where I run into it along the way, and yeah, it's very frustrating. There are some very cool fans I've met in this fandom, though, too, so hopefully you'll encounter more of them than you do the irritating ones along the way.

(And now I'm rather curious what ships you like :D. If you want to share, that is.)

Oh yeah, Character/OC fics bug me too, but like you say, they at least have the potential to be good if the OC is a well-written well-rounded character. But for those 'reader' things to work they have to be bland and then what's the point?

Thanks for the welcome! I've actually been watching the show for years, but it's only recently that I've gotten really caught up in it. No idea what happened there, but all of a sudden I *need* fic and picspams and headcanons and the usual fandom stuff when before I was content to maybe occasionally seek out what other people thought of an ep.

I don't know how many CM fans are on F!S so we may have had this convo before, but I mainly ship Hotch/Reid. I know, except for a fistbump there hasn't been much to talk about (though freaking yay for that fistbump), but the earlier seasons had lots. And I think they have potential. What are your ships?

Btw, just started a rewatch. First ep yesterday, now about to put on the second one. The summer's going to be scary but awesome.
