The only thing I can think of is The Giver series. It shows the attempt that's fairly stifled and limited (Book 1) and one where there's freedom and it more or less works, but to be fari we don't see a lot of that world (Book 4, Son).

I thought about using The Giver, actually, I'm just worried that I wouldn't be able to turn it into a full length paper. (I haven't read the book in a while, and it's currently checked out at the library until after my paper is due).
