Hmmm. Interesting question. The first thing that always comes to mind for me with the word utopia is Star Trek, but that isn't a children's work.

Distopia's are so popular right now, it is hard to think of an example of a utopia. Uh, The Hobbit maybe? The Shire is portrayed as pretty ideal and utopia-like.

Oh, yes, any of the Ox books after the second one. Oz is definitely portrayed as a Utopia.

Yeah, I know people watched it as a kid, but I'm probably not going to use it either way, for one big reason: I've never watched any, and my paper is due soon, so I wouldn't have time to watch the show. |D

Though, the idea of pulling in The Shire could work, with it's focus on the pastoral. :O

I'll keep that in mind about the Oz books. :O
