No, of course I don't forgive people everything immediately, because I'm an imperfect person who likes to hold onto her grievances and the feeling that as the injured party, one has the right to judge another person--just like most of the people in this thread, in fact. But I regard failure to forgive as a moral failing on my part, precisely because I understand that like the average person, I have failed and wronged other people in my life--intentionally or not, knowingly or not. Not by setting anyone's hair on fire for shits and giggles, but you don't have to set someone's hair on fire for shits and giggles to hurt them badly. Saying mean things about people can do a good deal of harm too--possibly even greater and more lasting harm than setting their hair on fire.
