Forgiveness is one of those words that's frequently twisted to benefit the speaker, and the people talking about being raised with the twisted definition (so far as I can tell) tend to be the ones pushed to "forgive" by this warped definition.

Being more vocal about the actual untwisted definition is good in general, but the way you're going about it (acting like people are "stupid" for being raised with the twisted version, or for not unlearning the twisted version in an instant) isn't gonna help.
In some cases, you'd be doing the exact same method of "teaching" as the people who taught the incorrect version in the first place. And that's... not gonna endear your definition to the people taught that way.


...Maybe we should just find a new word to use instead of "forgiveness", one that can't be twisted in the same way.
