Are you spending time actively looking for ideas or are you just waiting for them to come to you? Or is it that you have ideas but none of them interest you that much?

I spend a lot of time dissecting things I read and watch to figure out what interests me most and trying to come up with new directions I could take those bits and pieces. And sometimes there are ideas that I don't care much about until I combine it with other things and maybe strip off some parts of them to focus on the parts that really interest me.

People often talk about getting ideas as a single moment of inspiration where it all comes to them. That's not how it works for me. I build everything from the ground up, trying out different pieces until I've got something I like.

Maybe you just need some more time to take the ideas that you aren't that excited about yet and play with them.
