I'm going to extend the rec window a little bit until Monday. Please give me your recs! Title and author!

PS: the discussion for Maurice still had some posts today; head over to yesterday's secret post if you want to chime in! Here: http://www.wenspencer.com/a-brothers-price/

I'm going to submit a rec of my own this time around.

The book is A Brother's Price by Wen Spencer. Premise: an AU Earth where 90% of the population is female. Here's the site for the book where you can read an excerpt: http://www.wenspencer.com/a-brothers-price/

On an unrelated note, I just saw this today: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GFBQQJ6/

But honestly I don't think I'll read it.

Huh...

Yeah, I think I'll give it a pass too...it's not by Forster and I wouldn't want it to overshadow the original for me. xD;

Yeah, I don't really like reading fanfic for classics. It feels weird to me, and I'm worried it will dim the actual characterization.

OTOH last year I read an amazing story that was clearly based on a classic book and some heavy wish fulfillment going on and I still loved it, because it was original enough I could just enjoy it for what it was.

I'd honestly rather read unpublished online fanfic for classics (if I were to do it at all) than something published. I guess it'd be much easier to separate it from the original work if it was bad.

"Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass." I'm reccing both because the first one is pretty short.

Forgot to add that they're both available for free online.

That's Lewis Carroll, right? I do need the title and author to accept the rec (even if it's a well-known book).
