1) David Duchovny is not Mulder and Gillian Anderson is not Scully. Would you have shipped them if they did not play these characters? I doubt it! So all you are doing is not separating the characters from the actors. And that is wrong.

57) Everyone Luffy asks to join is my Strawhat Crew!

69) I love Life on Mars and I think the ending is incredible but also keep in mind that the show is a fantasy.

I'm not a shipper (like, so very not) but I'm in the fandom, and don't you think you're being a bit harsh? Maybe the OP (who is not me) likes the actors' chemistry. I just don't see how it's "wrong".

What can I say I think it is wrong to ship real people you don't personally know. DD and GA had great chemistry as Mulder and Scully like actors should when they are paired up together. The funny thing is if you read interviews with them they only had a good working relationship and weren't even close friends.

And look how many co-stars wind up romantically involved.

It's hardly the only fandom to have RPF. I don't see how it's any different from fans saying they "like" or "don't like" someone an actor is dating. They don't know them personally; it's just having fun.

Are you saying you ship people you DO personally know? 'Cos that seems more odd to me, but everyone likes different things.

And if they do they do but I don't personally wish or don't wish for it to happen. Because I don't feel it is my place.

Are you saying you ship people you DO personally know?

No that's not what I am saying, but when you actually know someone in RL it makes more sense to say my two friends would work well together because I actually know who they are as real people. This is how matchmaking works. I am not saying I write fanfiction or start wishing they would get together. But with actors you only know them as the characters they play or little random facts through interviews. Why not just stick with shipping the characters?

And I dislike all RPF and RPS whether it is X-Files related or not.

I just think everyone enjoys fandom in their own way. I don't think there's anything at all wrong with thinking actors would make a good couple; it's not like you're trying to make them do anything.

Live and let live.

I don't think I am going to change your mind, and you are certainly not alone in The X-Files fandom for despising RPF. But this post and this post have some interesting arguments to make about the genre. As far as actually shipping the actors, I agree people wouldn't envision them as a couple if they hadn't played one on TV. It is just a fantasy, like most character pairings. It doesn't do anyone any harm. It is just entertainment, mind candy, nothing more.

Yes, you hit the nail on the head - it's just mind candy. But some people take it way too seriously, hence the secret...

Yeah you are right those posts are not going to change my mind. Although I know what I say is not going to change anyone's mind who thinks differently from me as well.

And you are right it doesn't harm anyone per say but I do feel it shows a lack of respect for the actors. But people view things differently. There is nothing I can do about that. :)
